“Best thing I ever did was to finally read the Quran in English, a language I can understand. What happened next was completely unexpected. I discovered a world that was much more wondrous, much more awe inspiring, much more enlightening. I discovered love where I thought it couldn’t be found. I discovered compassion towards things that I never thought mattered. I discovered ‘Humanism’. I reclaimed my atheism that was stolen from me from birth, without my consent, without my permission.”
As a secular Muslim, I support freedom of religion in Pakistan so that people that don’t believe in Islam can, at least, be open about it instead of pretending to be a Muslim.
